Riverside Community Foundation was founded in 1998 by a small group of neighbors who saw their community struggling and decided to do something about it. What started as a weekend food pantry run out of a church basement has grown into a full-service nonprofit serving over 4,200 families annually.
Our mission is simple: connect Riverside residents with the resources, opportunities, and support they need to thrive. We do this through direct programs, community partnerships, and a network of over 320 volunteers who give their time because they believe in their neighbors.
We are a registered 501(c)(3) organization. 91 cents of every dollar donated goes directly to programs.
Margaret Osei and four neighbors launch a weekend food pantry serving 30 families.
Granted 501(c)(3) status. First paid staff member hired. Programs expand to include after-school tutoring.
Moved into a dedicated facility on Riverside Ave. Senior Support and Job Readiness programs launched.
Volunteer network hits 100 active members. Housing Assistance program added.
Annual reach surpasses 4,000 families. Health & Wellness Initiative launched.

We track outcomes, publish our financials, and report transparently to the community and our donors every year.
The people we serve are also the people who run our programs. More than 60% of our board members live in Riverside.
